Francesco: Bari 1974

Fausta: What’s ur job?
Francesco: Artist, art director, videomaker, set designer

Where do u live and work now?
Francesco: I live in St. Petersburg, working between St. Petersburg, where I have my studio atelier and Moscow where I run an art gallery (OIOIOI) located in the famous Palace Yudashkin.

Francesco: My father and my mother

Fausta: What is video art?
Francesco: Video art is not film, documentary, video clip, spot advertising, television programs. Kubrick said that cinema is an art but the art of cinema is the editing, the art of video art installation is the editing too that give the rhythm to the final job but also to the final installation.
Another important factor of video art is the soundtrack though it may not be present, not a rule, but I can’t understand a video work of art without sound.


Fausta: And a video artist?
Francesco: Must be able to do everything well to be defined as such: writing the idea, organizing, shooting, lighting, subjects, locations, photography, lighting, filming, post production, titration, assembly, In my case stills post production, printing and handling of stills by mixte techniques, the choice of instruments, monitors, plasma, LCD, projectors, technical design of the entire installation and construction management. Francesco: I'd like to continue to excite and thrill me, amuse and entertain, meet new teachers to continue my personal and artistic growth process.

Fausta: Do they know Puglia in Russia?! And what abt the food from Puglia?
Francesco: A little bit. But they know St. Nicholas'.

Fausta: Favourite dish? What abt Rice Potatoes and mussels?
Francesco: Honestly no, I like it but not in my "top ten". I love raw fish, lasagna and pizza. Lately I've learned to appreciate in Russia soups, cucumber and caviar.
