Art Safari is a sign that Romanian art market enters a new stage, where Romanian artistic system enters the stage of adulthood and gets included in an European network and why not a global one. It’s for the first time when two professional associations like the one of the art dealers, ACOAR, and the one of contemporary art galleries, AGACOR, work together to provide a capable and competitive art market. In addition, the fact that this first edition of the Art Safari Bucharest Art Fair hosts both museums and art galleries exhibitions is a testimony of mutual understanding and of an artistic system where the galleries discover and support the represented artists and museums devote. The first edition of the Bucharest Art Fair was organised with the support of the Deutsche Bank Technology Center. The art stage can better develop when there is a frame for building a stronger connection among the artist-gallery-collector, cultural institution and the art market, and this is precisely what Art Safari will achieve.” Art Safari’s Programme between the 22nd and the 25th of May (from 12 p.m. – 8 p.m., exception on 23rd when the Pavilion is closing at 2 a.m. and on the 25th when it is closing at 6 p.m.) is loaded with events, from book and album launches by Cosmin Năsui, Pavel Șușară, Ioana Ciocan or Susan Sontag to interactive debates about the art market with specialists from Romania, Holland, Turkey, Poland, Austria and Hungary. Among the Art in Dialog speakers are: Angela Baillou (Christie’s Viena – Austria), Vita Zaman (ViennaFair – Austria), Fons Hof (Art Rotterdam Fair Director – Holland), Rieder Gabor (FlashArt – Hungary), Ioan Sbârciu (UAD Cluj-Napoca President– The University of Art and Design Cluj-Napoca – Romania), Lars Ebert (ELIA Board Secretary – The European League of Institutes of Art), Ani Molnar (Ani Molnar Gallery – Hungary), Andrei Jecza (Jecza Gallery – Romania), Cristian Robert Velescu (National University of Art Bucharest – Romania), Adrian Notz (Cabaret Voltaire – Switzerland), Doina Lemny (Centre Pompidou Atelier Brâncuşi – France) and many others. Also, the general public will enjoy performences of well-known artist, screenings and Q&A with Teodor Graur, Călin Dan and Ion Grigorescu, DJ Electric Brother concert on the Galleries’ White Night (when the Pavilion is opened until 2 a.m.) and many other surprises, as for example the lauch of the Lavacow Online Auction House.
