From September 23 to October 30, 2011 the three artist installations will be housed in the Rudomino All-Russia State Library for Foreign Literature in Moscow. The project, organized in collaboration with Lu.C.C.A – Lucca Center of Contemporary Art, enjoys the patronage of Istituto Italiano di Cultura a Mosca, Province of Lucca, City of Lucca, City of Pietrasanta and CAV – Centro Arti Visive di Pietrasanta. “Rewriting worlds – explains curator Maurizio Vanni – means redesigning our lives from scratch, redefining the environment we live in, reconsidering our living spaces and recreating the norms that govern our history, by connecting with our memory structure”. Inside each of us are multiple facets and hidden, neglected or forgotten qualities. If these parts of us are reawakened, they can change our lives, revealing completely unknown aspects of reality, allowing us to reinvent and restructure every element of our existence. In order to do this, each person must have the courage to live their own emotions and passions to the fullest, to be themselves and search for the essence of knowledge. The three artists are exhibiting their reflections on this theme. Standing behind the mirror means going beyond the appearance of things, not being satisfied with the surface of reality, trying not to trust a simple, reflected image. The Self-portraits of Francesco Attolini (videos and photos) are in fact nothing but reflections of his inner world conveyed through other people. Rediscovering our own essence means writing new identities, structuring new faces, discovering unknown physiognomic geographies, highlighting differences in ethnicity, way of thinking, profession, species, character and spirit.
